Pearl Beach Startrails
Over a span of six hours, my camera captured the Earth's rotation, aimed at the south celestial pole with the city lights of Sydney shimmering in the distance. This is the Earth's axis point around which it spins, creating a star trails photograph. During the six-hour period, the camera took 700 individual photographs, revealing the stars' paths across the night sky in a captivating circular pattern.
When gazing at the stars, it's difficult to discern their movement across the sky, as they appear as tiny, distant specks challenging to track with the naked eye. However, if you spend an extended night reclining beneath the sky, you can observe prominent constellations and celestial objects shift positions as the Earth continues its rotational journey.
This mesmerizing transformation occurs every night, simply by observing the ever-changing sky above.
