Grain silos dot the Australian countryside and is an iconic symbol of agriculture.

I was told of this silo by someone who joined a Masterclass workshop and I travelled out to see if it aligned with the Milky Way. It was positioned far enough away from the town lights and there were no fences, street lights or large trees obstructing the view. It was exactly what I was looking for after years of searching.

I spent the night photographing the silo and other photographer arrived at midnight from Germany who also had the same idea as me.

It is rare to bumped into people while photographing at night, especially in the country. We chatted and after an hour he left.

Shortly after, the Milky Way had risen higher in the sky away from the glowing city lights and I could see the alignment of the road, lights, silo and Milky Way. I moved into position and began shooting.

If I hadn't meet this fellow astro-photographer in the country at midnight I would have packed up earlier and missed this composition. He was good company and happy he had the same ideas as me.
